4 BAY OAK FRAMED GARAGE WITH DOG KENNEL AND LOG STORE
This is the build log of our latest building. An oak framed garage with dog kennel and log store in Hungerford, Berkshire.
This timber frame is 12.1m wide x 6m deep with a roof pitch of 30°. We tiled the roof using Spanish slates. The catslide at the back of the barn keeps the ridge height below 4 metres so this can be built without planning permission.
We painted the traditional side-hung barn doors are with Farrow & Ball Hardwick White. We always paint these in the workshop to protect them from the elements.
The kennel area features galvanised railings and door. Behind the kennel is another room, accessed via a pedestrian door and is fitted out as a garden store.

THE DETAILS
This brand-new garage and carport required no planning permission. The architect took the initiative to apply for a permitted development certificate, just as a precautionary measure. While we typically handle planning applications free of charge, in this case, the architect was already engaged for other works on the property. We simply provided the drawings and allowed him to take care of the rest. At our company, we not only offer planning advice but can also submit the application on your behalf – all usually free of charge.
The design of this structure boasts spaciousness, featuring wider-than-normal parking bays with a generous 3.1m width between posts in the carport area. Additionally, we’ve added an elegant touch with an oak log store, which will serve as a convenient bin store in this particular instance.
