Detached oak workshop and car-port in Lyndhurst
This is the build log of a bespoke oak building – a single-bay oak framed car-port and workshop in Lyndhurst, New Forest.
This building is L-shaped, with each wing approx. 5m wide x 3m deep with a roof pitch of 45°. An oak truss completes the look. The building is clad with black-stained Scottish Spruce and the roof is covered with reclaimed clay tiles.

the Details
The build features the oak frame, softwood stud work / black cladding / softwood rafters. We installed the truss as a feature which is visible from the road.
We have a structural valley on the roof which adds a nice touch. The client chose to paint the cladding black and rafter-tails white. This matched the original building which this one replaced.
It is amazing how big the little workshop area is, now that it is complete.
