SINGLE STOREY OAK FRAMED EXTENSION
This beautifully crafted single-storey oak-framed extension was completed in 2022 in Lymington, Hampshire.
Measuring approximately 4m x 3m, it features a flat roof which was finished with durable EPDM rubber for long-lasting protection.
Designed to let in plenty of natural light, the structure includes static “direct glazing” panels on three sides, paired with a sleek aluminium single door.
The combination of oak framing and contemporary glazing creates a bright, functional space that blends seamlessly with the existing property.
It was a pleasure to return recently and see how the space is being used — a testament to its timeless design and practical appeal.

An oak frame extension offers a distinctive combination of natural beauty, long-lasting durability, and timeless character — qualities that set it apart from more conventional building methods.
We use a direct glazing system, a frameless design in which double-glazed units are fitted directly to the outside of the oak frame. These are then finished with air-dried oak cover boards. Because the glazing sits outside the structure, the oak frame is free to dry and move naturally over time, without compromising the seal or integrity of the glazing.
Oak frames can be tailored for a wide variety of uses — from garden rooms and home offices to garages and open-plan living spaces. If you have a design in mind, we’d be happy to hear from you. We offer free estimates and can also arrange site visits to discuss your ideas in more detail.
