OAK FRAMED SINGLE-STOREY EXTENSION IN CHANDLERS FORD
This is the build log of our latest building – an oak framed garden-room / extension, not far from Winchester.
This timber frame is 5.5 m wide x 2.1m deep with a roof pitch of 20°. The tiles are Spanish slates.
We use a tried and tested direct-glazing system on all of our extensions. The glass is capped with air-dried oak planks for a frame-less look.
The bespoke aluminium sliding doors realy complete the look.

the Details
The site is very interesting, with sloping grounds and mature garden. The idea was to bring the outside in, and we certainly managed that! The existing brick-built extension was demolished with part of the foundations being re-used. This saved money which was later spent on the huge steel beams used to hold up the rear of the house!
The addition of roof-lights really helps with the morning light – before the sun has had a chance to brighten up the garden it is already coming in through the roof.
